Boa Vista Island

"Infinite Dunes and Virgin Beaches of Wild Beauty"

Over het eiland

Boa Vista is the untouched paradise of the archipelago, famous for its magnificent dunes reminiscent of the Sahara desert and the longest beaches in Cape Verde. It is a destination of pure contemplation, peace, and contact with wild nature, being also the main nesting site for Loggerhead (Caretta caretta) sea turtles in the Atlantic.

Hoe er te komen

Per vliegtuig: Aristides Pereira International Airport (BVC) - international charter flights and regular inter-island connections.
Over zee: Regular ferry connections with Sal Island and Santiago.

Klimaat en beste seizoen

Year-round. For whale watching: March to May. For turtle nesting: July to October. De gemiddelde watertemperatuur varieert van 23°C (73°F) in de winter tot 27°C (81°F) in de late zomer.

Gastronomie en cultuur

Music is a constant, being the birthplace of "Morna" (the most nostalgic musical genre of Cape Verde). Ceramic crafts and pieces made of shells are cultural landmarks of Sal Rei.

Insidertip

"Take a 4x4 jeep ride to the remote Santa Mónica Beach and enjoy 18 km of completely deserted and pristine sand, an unforgettable experience of poetic solitude."
