About the Island
Boa Vista is the untouched paradise of the archipelago, famous for its magnificent dunes reminiscent of the Sahara desert and the longest beaches in Cape Verde. It is a destination of pure contemplation, peace, and contact with wild nature, being also the main nesting site for Loggerhead (Caretta caretta) sea turtles in the Atlantic.

Climate & Best Season
Year-round. For whale watching: March to May. For turtle nesting: July to October. The average water temperature ranges from 23°C (73°F) in winter to 27°C (81°F) in late summer.

Music is a constant, being the birthplace of "Morna" (the most nostalgic musical genre of Cape Verde). Ceramic crafts and pieces made of shells are cultural landmarks of Sal Rei.
