On Boa Vista, Sal Rei works as a modest urban centre: more authentic, less nightlife than Santa Maria. The island is larger and exploring dunes, the Cabo Santa Maria shipwreck at Atalanta
For families: Sal offers more swim schools, resort water parks and beaches with services. Boa Vista compensates with spacious resorts, pools and calm beaches at Chaves — but plan logistics outside the hotel. Young children adapt well to both; bored teenagers may find Sal more stimulating.
